British Wheel of Yoga Courses
Yoga Junction is a British Wheel of Yoga Approved Centre. We run a range of BWY courses which are taught by BWY qualified teachers. These courses range from teacher training courses to courses of special interest. The BWY run Foundation courses, which are open to students who have been practising yoga for 2 years or more, and Diploma courses, which are for students with 4 years or more experience. The Foundation courses can be done out of personal interest and are not a teacher training course. The Diploma course is the teacher training course. Set BooksThe two set texts for this course are ‘The Heart of Yoga’ by TKV Desikachar and ‘The Hathayogapradipika’ Bihar edition. Both books are available from Yoga Junction on the first day of your course and there is no need to read them in advance of the course! Course content The TeachersThere is one main tutor for the course and quite often a collection of guest teachers who drop-in and teach their particular specialist subject. Please check in advance who the main tutor is, as it will vary from course to course. Yoga JunctionYoga Junction's studio is fully equipped for yoga. We aim to provide the best possible learning environment for students with a broad range of regular classes to choose from. We are different from many other yoga centres in that Yoga Junction is owned and run by yoga teachers. A large part of our work is training teachers and providing existing teachers and established students with inspiring courses at a more advanced level.
BWY INTEGRATION COURSEThis is a course designed for existing teachers with a teaching qualification that is not BWY accredited to gain a BWY Diploma qualification. It will involve studying a range of topics including philosophy, asana, pranayama, lesson planning, health and safety and more. The course will be taught by Tara Fraser and Wendy Haring We have just started a course and will be running our next one in 2011. Please e-mail if you are interested in the next course. BWY DIPLOMA COURSE.BWY Diploma course with Tarik Dervish at Yoga Junction starting May 2010. Course will run over two and a half years at approximately 1 Saturday every 2-3 weeks. The course will include a one week Residential in May 2011 and a residential weekend. If you are interested Tarik will be running an Introductory day in April 2010. Tarik is a qualified Ayurvedic practitioner and a student of Swami Nishchalananda (a disciple of Swami Satyananda of the Bihar School of Yoga). He also spent 8 years working with Iyengar teachers.
